The Shield

As a principal defence in combat since time immemorial, the shield has been used as a canvas upon which one displays his representation. Hesoid, the Greek poet, describes the terrifying scaled dragon painted on Hercules’ shield, while Homer describes the hissing snakes adorning Pallas’ shield as she faces Troy. Although it may be that these images are only fragment of poetic fiction, it can be safely assumed that they have originated from factual use.
